Job Title: Security Manager
Role Summary:
Oversee day‑to‑day security operations in a hospital setting, develop and enforce security policies, manage a security team, and lead emergency preparedness initiatives to protect patients, visitors, staff, and facilities.
Expectations:
- Maintain continuous security coverage through shift scheduling and resource management.
- Stay current on security threats, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Serve as acting Director of Security when required, providing operational and executive briefings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily security operations and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
- Develop, implement, and update security plans, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Monitor access control, surveillance, and alarm systems, investigating and mitigating threats.
- Lead, train, and evaluate security personnel; conduct performance reviews and development programs.
- Schedule shifts, allocate resources, and maintain adequate staffing for all operational hours.
- Conduct drills and training exercises for security staff and hospital personnel.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal stakeholders for coordinated response.
- Report incidents, trends, and security updates to the Director of Security and executive management.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in security or related field.
- 3–5 years of security operations and management experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Knowledge of federal law enforcement standards (Series 1811), certified peace officer, or equivalent.
- Expertise in security tactics, training, emergency response, and incident management.
- Proficiency with security hardware/software (access control, CCTV, alarm systems).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and supervisory abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in security, criminal justice, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred.
