**Job title**
Vice President, Global Safety & Security
**Role Summary**
Lead global safety and security strategy for a humanitarian organization, advising senior leadership, managing a worldwide safety team, and ensuring robust protective and risk‑management practices across all operations.
**Expactations**
- Provide strategic direction and daily oversight of safety and security functions worldwide.
- Maintain a proactive risk culture, integrating duty‑of‑care principles into all programs.
- Serve as the principal security advisor to the executive group, crisis management team, and key operational partners.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead, mentor, and develop global safety and security staff and country office teams.
- Design, implement, and update safety policies, incident response plans, and crisis management procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments, threat monitoring, and situational analysis for all operational locations.
- Advise on executive protection, travel security, and physical protection measures.
- Coordinate with People & Culture, Communications, Cyber Security, Programs, and Business Development to embed security considerations in grant proposals and program design.
- Report regularly to the Executive Group on metrics, trends, incident summaries, and preparedness status.
- Build and maintain external partnerships with governments, NGOs, security agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory safety and security standards globally.
**Required Skills**
- Leadership and team development in a complex, multinational environment.
- Advanced knowledge of executive protection, crisis management, and physical security.
- Strong understanding of the intersection between cyber, online, and physical security.
- Ability to analyze and interpret security data, trends, and risk indicators.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
- High empathy, people‑centred approach, and diplomatic engagement in diverse cultural contexts.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience (graduate degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior security‑management role within a global humanitarian or comparable sector.
- Experience in insecure or hostile environments and managing country‑level security.
- Relevant security or safety certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Executive Protection Specialist) are an advantage.
