**Job Title** Software Engineer **Role Summary** Founding engineer responsible for building an AI‑powered spreadsheet that automates knowledge work. Own the end‑to‑end product from AI agent design, spreadsheet engine performance, to consumer‑facing UX that translates plain‑English queries into trustworthy analysis. **Expectations** - Ship visible, user‑facing products with measurable impact. - Work independently and collaborate cross‑functionally with product, design, and data teams. - Demonstrate ownership, rapid prototype‑to‑production pipeline, and continuous improvement. - Maintain high standards of reliability, clarity, and user trust. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, develop, and productionize AI agents that reason over spreadsheet data, plan tasks, and generate clear, auditable outputs. - Expand and optimize the spreadsheet engine for performance, correctness, and scalability across large datasets. - Build and iterate on UX components that allow non‑technical users to pose questions in plain English and receive actionable insights directly within a familiar spreadsheet interface. - Prototype quickly, gather live user feedback, and refactor solutions for production readiness. - Contribute to the full software stack: Node.js, TypeScript, Express on the backend; Rust and WASM for performance‑critical modules; and front‑end UI development. - Collaborate with senior engineers to establish architecture, coding standards, and best practices. - Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and automated deployment pipelines. **Required Skills** - 2+ years of experience shipping production AI or data‑processing systems. - Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, Express, and at least one systems language (Rust, Go, or C++). - Experience building or optimizing distributed or high‑performance back‑ends. - Front‑end development skills (React, Vue, or equivalent) and an eye for user‑friendly design. - Familiarity with WASM for embedding high‑performance modules in web environments. - Strong debugging, profiling, and performance tuning abilities. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex solutions to non‑technical stakeholders. - Self‑starter with a high sense of ownership and agency. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred). - No specific certifications required; practical experience and proven delivery are paramount.
