**Job Title:** Purchasing Manager
**Role Summary:**
Lead procurement strategy for precision machine tools, CNC systems, and industrial automation components in a highly engineered manufacturing environment. Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing to support production schedules and quality standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver cost reduction and process improvement targets.
- Maintain optimal inventory and supply risk levels.
- Foster long‑term vendor partnerships aligned with engineering and quality goals.
- Mentor a small team of buyers and sourcing specialists.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Direct purchasing of machined parts, castings, fabrications, hydraulic assemblies, controls, and automation components.
- Develop and execute supplier strategies for cost, delivery, and quality optimization.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, blanket purchase agreements, and vendor‑managed inventory.
- Oversee daily buying operations: PO approvals, supplier communication, and inventory alignment.
- Partner with Engineering to assess supplier capability for complex parts and assemblies.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production to resolve delivery issues and non‑conformances.
- Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor commodity markets, cost trends, and material availability to mitigate risk.
- Mentor and develop team members, promoting best practices in sourcing and procurement.
**Required Skills:**
- 8–10 years progressive purchasing/procurement experience in machine tools, CNC, or industrial automation.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance expertise.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and purchasing workflows.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Proven track record of cost improvement, process efficiency, and supplier development.
- Strategic thinker with hands‑on execution capability.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Professional certification preferred (CSCP, CPM, CPP).
