Job Description
Job title: Estimating Supervisor Role Summary: Lead the cost control and estimating function for residential construction projects. Oversee budget monitoring, variance analysis, purchase order approval, and financial reporting to ensure project profitability and compliance. Expactations: - Deliver accurate cost estimates and ongoing cost control throughout the project lifecycle. - Maintain stringent accuracy and accountability in financial data. - Mentor and manage an estimating team, fostering skill development and high performance. - Collaborate closely with construction, accounting, and senior management on financial planning and audit processes. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, maintain, and refine cost‑control systems and procedures. - Monitor project budgets, track actual costs versus estimates, and report variances. - Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring adherence to budgets and contract terms. - Analyze cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and recommend resolution actions. - Prepare and distribute regular cost reports and forecasts to management. - Support controller on financial planning, audits, and year‑end activities. - Provide training, oversight, and leadership to the estimating team. - Identify and implement process improvements and best practices for cost management. Required Skills: - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - High attention to detail and accuracy. - Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. - Effective communication and leadership capabilities. - Proficiency with MS Office (Excel advanced). - Experience with Sage 300, Homefront, or similar ERP systems (asset). Required Education & Certifications: - Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field. - Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control, estimating, or financial analysis within residential construction or homebuilding.
