Job Description
**Job title:** Survey/Geospatial Intern **Role Summary:** Summer internship assisting Survey and Geospatial technical staff. Tasks include field data collection, electronic file conversion to Autodesk Civil 3D, drafting of survey drawings, data reduction, calculations, and support for project execution. Intern will work both in the field and in the office, collaborating with junior and senior engineers to meet project deadlines. **Expectations:** - Must be a current student or recent graduate pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Geomatics, CAD/CADD, or Engineering Technologies. - Reliable transportation for field and office travel. - Capable of carrying up to 40 lb. of equipment and working outdoors in all weather. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. - Ability to perform mathematical calculations, data checks, and stakeout computations. - Comfortable working in a high‑paced, multidisciplinary environment. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist technical staff on day‑to‑day survey projects. - Convert field‑collected electronic files to CAD drawings in Autodesk Civil 3D. - Draft SUE, ALTA, boundary, topographic, As‑Built, maps, specific‑purpose surveys, plat plans, and subdivision records. - Perform field work as instrument operator for control, topographic, and pipeline surveys. - Reduce field notes, data, and perform calculations and checks using survey software and AutoCAD. - Execute staking computations and verify accuracy of field data. - Read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documentation. - Support project teams to meet deadlines and quality standards. - Participate in networking and learning opportunities within the engineering team. **Required Skills:** - Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (preferred); experience with Civil 3D is a plus. - Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Strong problem‑solving abilities. - Solid computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Physical ability to work in varied outdoor conditions and lift up to 40 lb. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree currently pursued or recently completed in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Geomatics, CAD/CADD, or related Engineering Technology field. - No professional surveying license required for internship.
