**Job Title**
Simulation Engineer – Injection Moulding
**Role Summary**
Lead the development of a Large Engineering Model (LEM) for injection moulding by creating, curating, and integrating high‑fidelity simulation data. Collaborate with research, product, and industrial teams to define training strategies, data pipelines, and KPIs that enable real‑time, accurate predictions of mould‑flow behaviour and defect mapping.
**Expectations**
- 5+ years industrial injection moulding simulation experience at a Tier 1 supplier, polymer specialist, or CAE provider.
- Deep expertise in full mould‑flow cycle: mesh generation, runner design, gate positioning, non‑linear material modelling, and thermodynamics/fluid dynamics of thermoplastics and fiber‑reinforced polymers.
- Advanced proficiency in industry solver tools (e.g., Autodesk Moldflow, Moldex‑3D, or comparable).
- Strong software engineering skills (Git, clean code, automated testing) within Linux/HPC environments.
- Ability to translate engineering domain knowledge into data‑driven ML training workflows and operational KPIs.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. **Training Strategy Design** – Define data requirements, simulation variance, and optimal part geometries to train the LEM.
2. **Data Flywheel Engineering** – Build automated, scalable pipelines that generate, store, and feed high‑fidelity solver outputs into the ML model, maintaining an iterative learning loop.
3. **Industrial KPI Definition** – Partner with product and GTM teams to establish accuracy, cycle‑time, and defect‑prediction benchmarks that validate the model for end users.
4. **User Experience & Integration** – Shape how the AI tool integrates with CAD/CAM and design workflows, ensuring instant feedback on cycle time, part quality, and tool optimisation.
5. **Cross‑functional Collaboration** – Act as the technical liaison between research, product management, and manufacturing to align simulation outcomes with customer needs.
6. **Continuous Improvement** – Monitor model performance against KPIs, refine data generation strategies, and iterate simulation setups to enhance predictive accuracy.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise in injection moulding simulation and workflow optimisation.
- Proficient with industrial solvers (Autodesk Moldflow, Moldex‑3D, CONVERGENCE, or similar).
- Strong programming in Python or C++ for data manipulation and pipeline automation.
- Knowledge of HPC, Linux, and version control best practices.
- Experience designing and operating data pipelines for machine‑learning systems.
- Ability to translate engineering parameters into ML training features and targets.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem‑solving mindset.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in CAE software (e.g., Autodesk Certified Expert in Moldflow) preferred.
