Job Description
Job Title: Research Geophysics Intern Role Summary: The intern collaborates with multi‑disciplinary scientific teams to advance seismic processing, inversion, and imaging techniques. Responsibilities include developing data‑driven algorithms, conducting numerical simulations, validating methods with synthetic and real datasets, and documenting research through technical reports and presentations. Expactations: Proficiency in computational geophysics and strong analytical reasoning. Capable of iterative algorithm design and performance evaluation. Excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation. Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and within a team, and maintain a proactive learning attitude. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement advanced seismic processing algorithms in partnership with R&D teams. - Apply physics‑based and machine‑learning methods to enhance seismic data analysis. - Validate new techniques using synthetic and field datasets. - Conduct numerical simulations and model testing to assess feasibility. - Develop tools and workflows for seismic processing and imaging. - Produce technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders. Required Skills: - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Programming experience in C, C++, Fortran 90, or Python. - Knowledge of numerical methods for wave propagation, advanced imaging/inversion, uncertainty quantification, or advanced data processing. - Experience with seismic field data is a plus. - Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills. - Self‑motivation, independent work capability, and collaborative mindset. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrollment in a PhD program in Geophysics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field. - (No specific external certifications required; familiarity with cloud technology is advantageous.)
