**Job Title** Undergraduate Research Internship – SMaRT Summer Program (UT‑ORII) **Role Summary** A 10‑week, fully funded research internship for U.S. undergraduate students (sophomore, junior, or senior) in the fall of 2026. Interns work under graduate student mentors on interdisciplinary projects in fields such as transportation mobility, cybersecurity, advanced materials, fusion technology, circular bioeconomy, and data science. The program includes professional development, networking, and the creation of research presentations and scientific posters. **Expectations** - Availability May 26–July 31, 2026 (May 26‑29 virtual). - Work 40 – 44 hours weekly on research tasks and meetings. - Maintain a stipend of $694/week, receive on‑campus apartment housing, and up to $1,200 travel reimbursement (±50 mi). - Submit Statement of Interest, résumé/CV, and transcripts by November 15, 2025. **Key Responsibilities** - Collaborate with a graduate mentor on a research project aligned with one of the program’s focus areas. - Conduct experiments, perform data collection and analysis, and document results. - Participate in weekly progress meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions. - Develop and deliver a short research presentation and scientific poster for a conference or internal showcase. - Complete professional development workshops (resume building, personal statements, networking). - Prepare a CV, personal statement, and other career‑readiness materials. **Required Skills** - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Basic laboratory and fieldwork skills relevant to chosen research area. - Competence in data handling, statistical analysis, or programming (Python, MATLAB, R) is a plus. - Excellent written and verbal scientific communication. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Proficiency with common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). **Required Education & Certifications** - Enrolled as an undergraduate student at a U.S. college or university. - Eligible student: rising sophomore, junior, or senior in fall 2026. - No specific certifications required.
