Data Migration Specialist
**Role Summary**
Design, develop, and execute end‑to‑end data migration solutions from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms. Build standardized ETL packages using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Pipelines, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle. Lead documentation, process improvement, and collaboration with functional, testing, and integration teams to align migration activities with business objectives.
**Expectations**
- Own the migration strategy and execution for critical data assets.
- Deliver high‑quality, tested migration pipelines on schedule.
- Maintain rigorous data governance, validation, and audit trails.
- Provide clear, concise documentation and knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
- Work cross‑functionally with business leads, QA, and integration teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and implement ETL/ELT processes using SQL, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and stored procedures.
- Plan and execute full data migrations, including data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and loading.
- Perform data quality checks, validation, and reconciliation against source systems.
- Develop and maintain migration documentation, including architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and test scripts.
- Collaborate with functional leads to capture business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Coordinate with QA teams for regression and integration testing of migrated data.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize migration performance and reliability.
- Share best practices and lessons learned to improve future migrations.
**Required Skills**
- Extensive experience in ETL development using SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Pipelines, and stored procedures.
- Strong background in legacy data migration and at least two full life‑cycle ERP implementations in a data‑analysis role.
- Proficient in SQL Server, SSIS, and data warehouse concepts.
- Solid understanding of data governance, quality assurance, and validation techniques.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
**Bonus Skills**
- Reporting and BI tools (Power BI, dashboards).
- Integration platforms (AIS, SAP BTP).
- Azure Synapse, Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, and Databricks.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, SSIS certification, or equivalent.
