**Job title**: VMware VCF Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, deploy, and support VMware Virtual Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments for a defence and security client. The role requires on‑site delivery, full engagement with system configuration, automation, and troubleshooting.
**Expectations**
- Deliver high‑availability VCF solutions that meet stringent security and performance standards.
- Maintain operational excellence through monitoring, updating, and optimizing the VMware stack.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate VCF with existing cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install and configure VMware SDDC Manager, NSX‑TC, vSphere, vSAN, and vRealize Suite components.
- Provision, patch, and upgrade VCF packages according to timeline and change‑management protocols.
- Implement security hardening, access control, and compliance controls for defence‑grade environments.
- Design and enforce data‑at‑rest and in‑transit encryption, role‑based access, and audit logging.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and health using vRealize Operations and other tooling, and respond to incidents.
- Create and maintain documentation: architecture diagrams, runbooks, test plans, and support guides.
- Engage in incident and problem management; root‑cause analysis for recurring issues.
- Advise on capacity planning, scalability, and cost optimization of VCF deployments.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in VMware VCF (SDDC) architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency with vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑TC, vRealize Suite, and related VMware technologies.
- Strong scripting/background in PowerCLI, Bash or Python for automation.
- Experience with security‑centric design: SC Level clearance, defence standards, and secure‑by‑design principles.
- Knowledge of networking, storage fundamentals, and cloud integration (AWS/Azure/Azure‑Stack).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP‑DCV) and VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Virtual Cloud, Platform (VC‑ADV) or equivalent.
- Additional certifications such as VCF‑C (VMware Cloud Foundation) and NSX‑TC are highly desirable.
**Security Clearance**
Successful candidates must obtain a Security Clearance, SC Level, before commencement.
