**Job Title:** DevOps Systems Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and maintain automated deployment pipelines, network configurations, and telecom integrations for mission‑critical hardware and software systems. Ensure high‑availability architecture, system performance, security, and compliance while providing technical documentation and mentoring junior engineers.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver reliable, repeatable automation for integrated hardware/software solutions.
- Apply system‑engineering best practices and risk management.
- Collaborate across program management, development, test, field, and production teams.
- Support on‑site deployments, integration, and customer testing as needed.
- Maintain public‑trust clearance eligibility (FAA Suitability).
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Create and manage automated software deployments and network provisioning for proprietary communications equipment.
2. Design and implement hardware/software monitoring, reporting, and upgrade paths.
3. Develop conceptual, functional, and physical designs for high‑availability mission‑critical systems.
4. Perform systems engineering for hardware, software, subsystems, and tools.
5. Monitor system performance, apply security controls, troubleshoot, and drive continuous improvements.
6. Produce and review technical documentation (design drawings, system layouts, configuration guides, deployment procedures).
7. Own engineering deliverables and ensure technical compliance with program requirements.
8. Coordinate with cross‑functional departments to achieve project goals.
9. Participate in customer site deployments, system integration, and testing activities.
10. Mentor and guide junior engineers.
**Required Skills:**
- Automated deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform).
- Network and telecom configuration (routing, switching, VLANs, VPN, SDN).
- Scripting/programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Infrastructure monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Nagios).
- Security best practices (hardening, patch management, vulnerability scanning).
- System‑engineering principles, risk assessment, and high‑availability design.
- Documentation standards and version control (Git).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Ability to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 5–9 years of DevOps engineering experience in networking/communications environments.
- Eligibility for Public Trust Clearance (FAA Suitability determination).
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., AWS/Azure DevOps, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, CompTIA Security+, Certified DevOps Engineer).
