**Job Title**
Senior Power BI Consultant (Freelance)
**Role Summary**
Provide end‑to‑end Power BI migration expertise for a high‑impact client, redesigning critical BI applications, deploying solutions, and ensuring smooth operational run‑time. Act as a technical authority and mentor, guiding the client’s team on Power BI best practices and capability building, with occasional Spotfire support for legacy visual migration.
**Expectations**
- Deliver a fully functional Power BI application on time within a 3‑12 month engagement.
- Transition all data, calculations, and visualisations from legacy systems to Power BI, including complex DAX, Python scripts, and HTML/JavaScript components.
- Provide production support and monitor performance in live environments.
- Conduct knowledge‑transfer workshops and develop documentation for ongoing client use.
- Demonstrate strong communication with business, IT, and stakeholder groups to align technical solutions with business goals.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, develop, and deploy Power BI Desktop and Service solutions covering data modeling, DAX, and performance tuning.
- Translate complex calculations and scripts (Python, JavaScript) into Power BI environment.
- Lead production rollout and facilitate go‑live support, monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Coach client staff on Power BI architecture, modeling best practices, and governance.
- Prepare and present regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Perform ad‑hoc Spotfire visual migration or refresh when required.
- Document solution architecture, data flows, and maintenance procedures.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in Power BI Desktop and Service with proven experience building enterprise‑grade reports and dashboards.
- Advanced data modelling, DAX programming, and performance optimisation.
- Experience industrialising BI solutions (version control, reusable components, automated refresh).
- Ability to act as a technical lead, mentor, and change‑management partner.
- Strong collaboration skills across business, functional, and IT teams (AMOA, subject‑matter experts).
- Knowledge of Spotfire (visual migration, integration) is highly desirable.
- Comfortable with scripting (Python, JavaScript) for custom visuals and ETL processes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Power BI‑specific certification (e.g., PL-300).
- Proven record of delivering large‑scale BI initiatives within regulated sectors such as finance, audit, or construction.
