**Job title**
R&D Programme Manager – Maternity Cover FTC
**Role Summary**
Lead the end‑to‑end management of R&D programmes, ensuring alignment with the organization’s innovation strategy. Manage budgets, resources, risks, and cross‑functional coordination to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
**Expectations**
- Deliver R&D programmes on schedule and within the approved budget.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and keep leadership informed of progress, risks, and resource needs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks and resource constraints.
- Support early‑stage research initiatives and industrial projects, especially those funded by government or external grants.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Own the full programme life‑cycle from concept to delivery.
- Develop and maintain an annual programme budget, resource plan, and schedule.
- Track actual vs forecast costs and report status to Innovation leadership.
- Identify, assess, and disclose programme risks; propose mitigation plans.
- Allocate resources against capacity, prioritizing critical activities.
- Escalate resource insufficiencies and manage renegotiations.
- Partner with PMO, Supply Chain, and other units to embed new processes, systems, or technologies that enhance programme delivery and reporting.
- Coordinate globally dispersed teams and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and stakeholder expectations.
**Required Skills**
- Technical grounding in R&D development cycles (concept validation, formulation, proof‑of‑concept, testing, validation).
- Proven experience managing industrial R&D projects and early‑stage research programmes.
- Experience with government‑grant funded projects and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
- Strong project controls and understanding of critical success factors.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills, including remote collaboration.
- Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal capabilities.
- Analytical mindset with experience in risk management, budget monitoring, and performance reporting.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology) or equivalent professional experience.
- Project/Programme Management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, PgMP, or similar) is an advantage; hands‑on programme/project management experience is essential.
- Certification or experience in R&D or grant‑management is preferred.
