Job Description
**Job title:** Merchandise Planner **Role Summary:** Planned, projected, and analyzed sales, inventory, and margin data for a fast‑growing jewelry collection. Collaborated across merchandising, retail, operations, and digital teams to ensure optimal stock levels, timely product launches, and effective assortment management. Managed and developed a team of assistants, coordinated cross‑department projects, and contributed to e‑commerce performance. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate SKU‑level sales forecasts and target stock levels. - Identify and recommend assortment, pricing, and category opportunities. - Maintain a current product catalog and support web listings and marketing assets. - Lead and develop a small team, ensuring task execution and project progress. - Adapt quickly to a dynamic startup‑style environment, handling overtime when needed. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Planning & Projections** – Analyze sales, stock, margin, and other metrics to set SKU, style, and location targets. 2. **Reporting & Analysis** – Produce regular reports, present insights on assortment edits, product opportunities, and liabilities. 3. **Allocation & Inventory Management** – Set minimums per location, evaluate stock balances, and manage transfers. 4. **New Releases & SKU Management** – Create SKUs, prepare listings, and coordinate launch readiness. 5. **Catalog Maintenance** – Update pricing, costs, and assortment changes in the back‑end system. 6. **Team Leadership** – Hire, train, and supervise assistants/coordinators; oversee execution of department tasks. 7. **Digital & E‑commerce Support** – Optimize website listings, product performance, and conversion; provide recommendations for mailers and social media. **Required Skills:** - 3‑4+ years of buying or planning experience; 1‑2+ years of management experience. - Advanced Excel, retail math, and analytical problem‑solving abilities. - Strong communication, detail orientation, and multitasking skills. - Ability to learn new platforms quickly and work effectively across teams. - Sense of urgency, ownership, and a collaborative, positive attitude. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or a related field. - Supply‑chain or merchandising certification (e.g., CPIM, CPM, or similar) is a plus.
