**Job Title**
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administrator
**Role Summary**
Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform. Works collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and robust security across all GCP services.
**Expectations**
- Deliver reliable GCP infrastructures that meet business needs and security standards.
- Proactively monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Automate deployment and configuration tasks to increase efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture, processes, and operational procedures.
- Communicate status, findings, and recommendations clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Design, deploy, and maintain GCP architectures including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, App Engine, and Kubernetes Engine.
2. Configure networking (VPC, subnet, firewall rules, Cloud Load Balancer) and IAM roles, ensuring least‑privilege access.
3. Automate resource provisioning and lifecycle management with tools such as Cloud Deployment Manager, Terraform, or Ansible.
4. Manage costs through resource tagging, budgeting, and utilization analysis.
5. Monitor performance and availability using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and custom dashboards; respond to alerts and incidents.
6. Implement and enforce security best practices, including encryption at rest/in transit, Secure‑Service‑Accounts, and vulnerability scanning.
7. Produce and maintain up‑to‑date operational documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
8. Collaborate with DevOps, application developers, security, and compliance teams to align on requirements and deliverables.
**Required Skills**
- Extensive experience administering GCP environments (minimum 2+ years).
- Deep knowledge of Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Proficiency in automation frameworks: Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Strong networking and cloud security fundamentals.
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work autonomously and in cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Google Cloud Professional certifications (e.g., Cloud Architect, Cloud Engineer, Cloud Developer) are highly preferred.
