Job Description
**Job Title:** Geospatial Data Analyst (Contract) **Role Summary:** Provide geospatial data analysis and tooling to support early wildfire detection and response. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify camera deployment sites, develop GIS maps, automate data pipelines, and maintain spatial databases. **Expectations:** - Deliver actionable geospatial insights on a rapid, contract basis. - Produce high‑quality GIS outputs, Python automation, and database queries. - Maintain code quality through reviews, pull requests, and version control. - Support internal users with training and technical assistance. **Key Responsibilities:** - Analyze customer requirements and recommend optimal camera locations using GIS and site‑selection methods. - Design, generate, and publish customized map layouts, web maps, and applications. - Build and maintain Python‑based automation tools for data processing and workflow integration. - Create, query, and optimize PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases for geospatial workflows. - Provide training and technical support to internal stakeholders. - Participate in special projects as assigned. **Required Skills:** - Strong Python programming and scripting. - Proficiency in SQL; experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design. - Hands‑on experience with GIS software (ArcGIS/ESRI or equivalent). - Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews). - Solid mathematical and analytical abilities; attention to detail. - Proactive, self‑motivated, and well‑organized communication. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field. **Nice to Have (Optional):** - PostGIS or other spatial database extensions. - ETL pipeline development experience. - Exposure to cloud‑based geospatial tools or data warehouses.
