L2 Support Engineer (GCP specific)
Role Summary:
Provide Level‑2 technical support for Google Cloud Platform environments, with a focus on GKE/Kubernetes. Lead and mentor a team of support engineers, driving incident, problem, change, and performance management to maintain high service uptime and quality. Actively contribute to the adoption of GenAI principles within the cloud platform.
Expectations:
- Maintain high‑availability and performance of GCP and Kubernetes services.
- Demonstrate leadership through mentorship, team collaboration, and proactive incident response.
- Deliver root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
- Engage in change and release management, ensuring minimal service disruption.
- Expand knowledge base and documentation to support the broader IT service operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex GCP and Kubernetes incidents for L2 support tickets.
- Lead daily team meetings, technical reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Conduct major incident calls and coordinate cross‑functional resolution efforts.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, document lessons learned, and update the knowledge base.
- Review, approve, and manage ServiceNow change requests, coordinating deployments and releases.
- Monitor GCP and Kubernetes environments using Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement tuning or scaling solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, promoting best practices in cloud operations and DevOps.
- Contribute to GenAI initiatives by applying AI/ML insights to operational efficiency.
Required Skills:
Technical
- Deep proficiency in GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Networking, IAM, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of GKE/Kubernetes cluster management, deployments, scaling, and networking.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Helm, Istio).
- Proficient in infrastructure automation with Terraform.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).

- Proven team‑leadership in a technical support or/cloud operations context.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.

Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of IT/cloud support experience; 3+ years in GCP/Kubernetes.
- Leadership/technical lead experience.
Preferred Certifications (optional but advantageous)
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
- Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
