Job Description
**Job Title:** Embedded Software Engineering Intern – Summer 2026 **Role Summary:** Conduct hands‑on embedded software development for satellite communication systems, focusing on microcontroller programming, driver development, board support packages, and end‑use application/user interface design in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment. **Expectations:** - Complete assigned embedded software projects within the summer internship period - Present technical progress to peers, mentors, and leadership - Collaborate with engineering teams and adhere to established coding and review standards **Key Responsibilities:** - Program microcontrollers and develop low‑level drivers in C or C++ - Design and implement board support packages (BSP) for space‑electronics products - Build end‑use applications and user interfaces for satellite communication systems - Participate in code reviews, defect tracking, and configuration management activities - Read and interpret electronics schematics and component data sheets - Document design decisions and generate clear technical presentations **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems - Advanced coursework or experience in embedded systems design - Familiarity with software configuration management and defect tracking tools - Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred Experience:** - Embedded systems design on real‑time Linux or pre‑emptive multitasking RTOS - Knowledge of multi‑threaded application development and resource management - Understanding of real‑time coding techniques, IP protocols, and hardware interfaces - Experience with military, aerospace, or automotive embedded products - Ability to read schematics and component datasheets **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university - GPA of 3.5 or higher - U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, conditional residency, asylee, refugee status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. government space technology export regulations.
