Job title: Senior Technical Artist (6-8 Month Contract) Role Summary: Lead the development and optimization of art pipelines, tools, and workflows for a mobile game studio, focusing on VFX, lighting, and asset integration within Unity. Act as a technical liaison between artists, engineers, and project managers, mentoring the visual effects team. Expactations: - Deliver robust, scalable art production pipelines and tools that enhance creative output while meeting performance targets. - Mentor VFX artists and provide best‑practice guidance for optimization and quality control. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure technical consistency across art assets and scenes. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement pipelines for creating VFX, lighting (day/night cycles), and other visual assets in Unity. - Develop and maintain art tools using Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, and integrate them into the production workflow. - Optimize assets for mobile performance, balancing fidelity and efficiency. - Troubleshoot artist technical issues, providing rapid and clear solutions. - Contribute to rendering and shading techniques, integrating them into the engine. - Document processes and teach best practices to artists and team members. - Prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, iterative production schedule. Required Skills: - 5+ years of Unity development experience, including Unity scripting in C#. - Strong background in technical art or VFX, with proven ability to translate artistic vision into technical solutions. - Proficiency with Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender; experience creating in‑pipeline tools. - Knowledge of art optimization techniques for mobile platforms (mesh simplification, texture packing, LOD, shader optimization). - Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to artists and engineers. - Self‑motivation and adaptability in a collaborative, cross‑disciplinary environment. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent professional experience. - Relevant certifications in Unity, Maya, or professional pipeline development are a plus.
