Job title: Autonomous Systems Safety Consultant
Role Summary:
Provide expert safety assurance for autonomous vehicles, unmanned systems, robotics, and AI/ML technologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Expectations:
- Lead safety engineering activities for autonomous system projects from concept to certification.
- Develop and maintain safety cases, risk assessments, and validation plans.
- Interface with cross‑functional teams and external regulators to secure safety approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional safety analyses (hazard, risk, FMEA, FTA) according to ISO 26262, DO‑178C, IEC 61508, and relevant UAV/robotics standards.
- Create and review safety documentation (safety cases, SDL, design assurance, verification/validation plans).
- Identify and mitigate safety gaps in AI/ML models, control architecture, and hardware/software integration.
- Advise on implementation of safety measures (redundancy, fault tolerance, monitoring).
- Support audits, inspections, and certification processes.
- Mentor technical staff on safety practices and standards.
Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262, DO‑178C, IEC 61508, EPC, RABS).
- Experience with safety assessment of autonomous vehicles, UAS, robotics, and AI/ML systems.
- Proficiency in safety analysis tools (FaultTree, FMEA, SysML, MCDM).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and manage complex safety programs.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications such as ISO 26262 Lead Implementer, DO‑178C Lead Engineer, or equivalent safety engineering credentials.
