Director of Platform
Role Summary
Lead the end-to-end platform function—including Cloud Platform, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Data Platform, and Data Engineering—to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure that supports company strategy and product innovation.
Expectations
• Operate at senior leadership level with hands‑on technical direction.
• Set and enforce high technical standards through IaC, Terraform, and operational runbooks.
• Drive alignment between technology initiatives and business objectives, ensuring measurable outcomes.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, reliability, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
– Direct the Platform team’s delivery, performance, and engagement.
– Own the platform roadmap: cloud architecture, IaC, data pipelines, deployment standards, and observability.
– Define SLOs and an error‑budget policy; lead incident response and post‑mortem processes.
– Partner with Product, Operations, and Commercial stakeholders to embed analytics‑driven decision making.
– Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to maintain a competitive, cost‑effective platform.
– Conduct code/IaC reviews and provide hands‑on coaching to raise technical standards.
Required Skills
• 5+ years of leadership in cloud platform/SRE and data platform/engineering roles, preferably in fintech or high‑growth tech.
• Expert in AWS (cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security); Terraform expertise strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of data engineering tools (DBT, FiveTran, Snowflake) and relational/datastore systems (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB).
• Proven track record of aligning technology strategy with business goals and delivering measurable value.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration: influence Product, Finance, and Commercial stakeholders.
• Hands‑on ability to read code/IaC, troubleshoot production issues, and drive operational excellence.
• Experience in setting SLOs, error budgets, and leading major‑incident practices.
Required Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Terraform Certified Associate, Snowflake Certified Associate.
