**Job Title**
Senior Software Engineer, Research (Contract to Hire)
**Role Summary**
Contract-to-hire senior full‑stack engineer responsible for building, optimizing, and scaling research‑driven AI agent systems. Lead end‑to‑end delivery from evaluation pipelines to productionized features, ensuring reliability, performance, and observable metrics across backend, frontend, and model integrations.
**Expectations**
- Complete a 60‑day trial before full‑time offer.
- Deliver production‑grade agent workflows with <5% error rate.
- Launch cross‑agent design system + SDK used by multiple teams.
- Reduce latency and failure across high‑volume workflows.
- Ship multiple research‑to‑production integrations with measurable impact (e.g., CSAT, accuracy).
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Build and enhance core research infrastructure: evaluation pipelines, agent workflows, hallucination detectors, coding benchmarks, and research‑to‑production pipelines.
2. Design, implement, and scale agentic systems across backend, frontend, and model layers.
3. Own reliability, observability, and performance for agents, including logging, tracing, instrumentation, and safety checks.
4. Ship research‑proven features to production within 7 days, fully end‑to‑end.
5. Develop shared tools, SDKs, and internal products to speed iteration for Research, QA, and Engineering teams.
6. Audit cross‑agent flows for UI/UX consistency, performance, and correctness; implement typed schemas and contract‑driven interfaces.
7. Establish frontend and agent instrumentation, latency tracing, and error‑budget monitoring.
8. Collaborate closely with research and co‑founders to productionize new capabilities.
**Required Skills**
- Senior‑level full‑stack expertise in React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- Proven design, shipment, and scaling of LLM‑powered applications.
- API design, streaming, and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Track record of building reliable systems with measurable performance and defined error budgets.
- Experience with evaluation pipelines, agent workflows, and performance instrumentation.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in cloud architecture (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect) preferred.
