**Job Title**: Data Engineer (Contract)
**Role Summary**
Senior data engineer contractor building the data backbone for a large AI transformation project. Responsible for designing, developing, and operating scalable data pipelines that feed enterprise AI models.
**Expectations**
- Activate immediately in a complex, fast‑moving environment (start Dec/Jan).
- Contract only: 1099 or Corp‑to‑Corp (C2C).
- Deliver full value on Day 1; no W2 applicants or agency intermediaries.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, code, deploy, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and PySpark.
- Build and manage cloud data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Orchestrate workflows with Airflow, integrate streaming via Kafka, and transform data using DBT.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery of data solutions.
- Prepare and curate large‑scale datasets for machine‑learning/model training.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize pipeline efficiency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver insights.
- Document architecture, data models, and best practices for cross‑team use.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
- Deep experience with cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Hands‑on expertise with Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift.
- Strong knowledge of Airflow, Kafka, DBT, and CI/CD concepts.
- Data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with AI/ML data preparation at scale.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field (preferred).
- Valid certifications in cloud data engineering or related platforms (AWS Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, GCP Data Engineering, Databricks Certified, Snowflake Certified, etc.) are preferred but not mandatory.
