Job Description
Job Title: Actuary Intern Role Summary: Summer 2026 internship providing exposure to defined benefit and healthcare plan consulting. Interns collaborate on actuarial projects, learn actuarial analysis, data management, plan document interpretation, and client communication. Expectations: - Gain hands‑on experience in actuarial calculations and benefit design. - Develop analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking skills. - Build relationships with colleagues and clients. - Complete SOA exam fee support (paid by the program). Key Responsibilities: - Understand benefit plan operations across multiple client designs. - Prepare and review individual benefit calculations using analytical tools. - Organize and audit participant data, identify inconsistencies, and recommend actions. - Interpret plan documents and support client queries on regulations, data, and calculations. - Assist with special projects (e.g., plan terminations, lump‑sum windows, software conversions). - Analyze and refine internal processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Required Skills: - Strong mathematics, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities. - Proficient in Microsoft Excel. - Strategic thinking, prioritization, and project planning. - Collaboration and relationship‑building skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field. - Society of Actuaries (SOA) examination progress preferred but not mandatory.
