Job Description
Job Title: Embedded Software Intern Role Summary: An entry‑level internship focused on firmware development for core test‑and‑measurement products. The role involves coding, testing, and automation tasks, collaborating with firmware engineers and cross‑functional teams to enhance product quality and testing capabilities. Expectations: - Full‑time summer internship (12‑weeks). - Ability to work on site at the designated office location. - Completion of a bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field by Dec 2026 or later. - Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain firmware for upcoming product lines using C/C++ and Python. - Expand existing product and platform test coverage in collaboration with the firmware team. - Design and implement scripts, tools, and cloud‑based automation to streamline testing processes. - Work with cross‑functional teams to capture firmware requirements and refine product design. - Conduct research, data analysis, and contribute to process improvement and documentation for testing procedures. - Test hardware and software components to ensure reliability and performance of test‑and‑measurement instruments. Required Skills: - Proficient in embedded software development (C/C++, Python). - Modular or object‑oriented programming experience. - Familiarity with Git or other revision control systems. - Ability to debug and troubleshoot embedded code. - Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., Unity, CPPUnit). - Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. - Effective written and verbal communication. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Growth mindset, willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback. - Preferred: exposure to benchtop instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logics analyzers, JTAG/debuggers), test automation, cloud systems, ARM microcontrollers, and user‑friendly API development. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent, graduating Dec 2026 or later. - No specific certifications required, though knowledge of embedded systems coursework is advantageous.
