Job Description
Job title: Software Engineer Intern Role Summary: A 2026 summer internship focused on developing and testing software for the command and control of satellite tracking antennas. Responsibilities include Linux security update management, script development, test software for C/C++, JavaScript, and SNMP interfaces, and integration/testing of final products. Expectations: - 80‑hour work cycle over 14 days (9‑80 schedule). - Full‑time on‑site work. - U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance. Key Responsibilities: - Collate and validate Linux security updates; update hardening scripts. - Develop, run, and document test software against existing C/C++, JavaScript, and SNMP interfaces for peripheral positioning/RF devices. - Perform security scans and document results. - Assist in system integration tests and troubleshooting operating products. - Maintain clear documentation and communicate status to managers and technical staff. Required Skills: - C/C++ with object‑oriented programming; familiarity with design patterns. - Scripting: Python, Perl, JavaScript, and Shell (Bash). - Linux (RHEL/CentOS) administration – SSH/SFTP, Yum/RPM, system hardening. - Basic IT knowledge and experience with Windows tools (Word, Excel). - Strong written and verbal communication. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrolment in a bachelor’s program (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. - Minimum 1 year of experience (or equivalent education/experience) with Linux OS and software development/scripting. - U.S. citizenship; eligibility for future security clearance.
