Job Description
**Job Title** Internship – Estimation (Summer 2026) **Role Summary** Assist the Estimation team in preparing construction project bids for public, parapublic, and private clients. Contribute to cost analysis, quantity take‑offs, and proposal development under the direction of the Chief Estimator and Estimation Directors. **Expectations** - Follow project call‑for‑tender procedures and bid submission timelines. - Apply basic engineering/construction principles in cost estimating. - Communicate effectively with project and estimation directors, technicians, and suppliers. - Demonstrate readiness to learn new estimating tools and project management practices. **Key Responsibilities** - Review plans, specifications, and tender documents. - Coordinate quantity take‑offs with technicians or modelers. - Develop preliminary equipment and manpower requirement reports. - Research subcontractor and supplier pricing; maintain a database of contacts. - Assist in preparing bid costs, special conditions, and risk assessments. - Draft and update bid calculations for Estimation Director review. - Participate in client meetings and mandatory site visits when required. - Contribute to proposal development and submission review processes. - Build and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. - Perform related tasks as assigned by the Estimation Director. **Required Skills** - Basic civil or construction engineering knowledge. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Analytical and detail‑oriented approach to cost estimating. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. - Time‑management skills and commitment to deadlines. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field (in progress acceptable). - Relevant construction or engineering work experience is an asset. - No specific certifications required, but knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Pro‑Estimate, Sage Estimating) is beneficial if possessed.
