Job Title: Cybersecurity Junior Specialist
Role Summary:
Provide 24/7 support within the Senate Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Cell. Research adversary capabilities, support incident response, and help strengthen Senate cyber defenses. Collaborate with IT, procurement, and external vendors to gather, analyze, and disseminate intelligence.
Expectations:
- U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
- Availability for government shutdowns, irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Compliance with hybrid work schedule (2 days per pay period) within the continental U.S.
- Strong self‑directed learning and quick adaptation to evolving technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct adversary capability and intent research to inform threat models.
2. Support incident‑response teams in identifying, containing, and mitigating cyber incidents.
3. Analyze and report on emerging threats, vulnerabilities and attack patterns.
4. Develop and maintain intelligence‑sharing materials for SAA IT security staff and other stakeholders.
5. Assist in drafting and updating policies, standards, and procedures for the cybersecurity unit.
6. Coordinate project tasks and, when required, manage contractors and vendor deliverables.
7. Facilitate information exchange with other SAA divisions, external partners, and procurement personnel.
8. Provide technical and functional assistance to unit members and broader cybersecurity teams.
Required Skills:
- Fundamental cybersecurity knowledge (threat modeling, incident response, vulnerability management).
- Proficiency with industry‑standard tools such as SIEM, threat‑intel platforms, IDS/IPS, and ticketing systems.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of preparing clear, concise intelligence briefs.
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and support cross‑functional initiatives.
- Rapid learning aptitude for new technologies and security frameworks.
Required Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
- Completion of relevant cybersecurity coursework, academic projects, internships, or self‑directed learning.
- Cybersecurity certifications preferred: CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, GSEC, or equivalent.
- Must successfully obtain and retain a Secret clearance through the Government clearance process.
