**Job title:** Cybersecurity Junior Specialist
**Role Summary:** Support the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Cell by researching adversary capabilities, aiding incident response, and strengthening defenses for the Senate enterprise. Work 8:30‑5:00 pm, hybrid (2 days per pay period).
**Expectations:** Quick learner with a solid foundation in cybersecurity principles, industry tools, and analytical rigor; available during government shutdowns, inclement weather, weekends, holidays, and late nights to maintain essential services. Must obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct research on adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures targeting the Senate network.
- Assist in incident response, analysis, and remediation of cybersecurity events 24/7.
- Generate analysis and materials for SAA IT security staff, procurement teams, and other internal stakeholders.
- Participate in project teams and contractor oversight, contributing to planning, coordination, and policy development.
- Support development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide technical support to unit members and collaborate with other divisions, vendors, and contractors.
- Maintain readiness for off‑hour maintenance, system upgrades, backups, and alternate data center support.
**Required Skills:**
- Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threat intelligence, and incident response.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools (e.g., SIEM, threat feeds, vulnerability scanners).
- Strong analytical, research, and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to evolving technical environments.
- Team collaboration skills and willingness to support cross‑functional initiatives.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Relevant coursework, academic projects, internships, or self‑directed learning; certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIT+, or similar are highly beneficial.
- U.S. citizenship and willingness to obtain a Secret security clearance.
