Senior Software Engineer – Backend Systems
**Role Summary**
Design, develop, and maintain high‑velocity backend services that drive autonomous healthcare agents. Own end‑to‑end system delivery, from cloud infrastructure and API orchestration to clinical integrations, ensuring reliability, observability, and safety for real‑time voice interactions.
**Expectations**
- Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven ownership of production‑grade backend systems written in Python (FastAPI).
- Experience deploying on AWS, using Infrastructure‑as‑Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Strong architectural thinking, performance optimisation, and observability skills.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments with end‑to‑end ownership.
- Product‑mindset: design systems with a focus on how they will be used by customers and clinicians.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and implement core backend infrastructure that powers autonomous agents.
- Integrate with clinical systems (EHRs, scheduling platforms, etc.) ensuring secure, reliable communication.
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across cloud services.
- Enhance observability – metrics, logs, distributed tracing – to support proactive incident response.
- Contribute to agent reasoning logic, memory management, and workflow orchestration.
- Collaborate directly with product, founders, and customers to shape technical direction.
- Mentor junior engineers, influence engineering culture, and drive best practices.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in Python and FastAPI (or equivalent ASGI frameworks).
- Cloud infrastructure: AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, X-Ray).
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Advanced knowledge of API design, asynchronous programming, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
- Performance tuning, distributed system design, and scalability strategies.
- Strong debugging, testing (unit, integration, load), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem‑solving, code quality, and documentation habits.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar cloud certification is a plus.
