Job Description
**Job Title:** Machine Learning Scientist **Role Summary** Develop and maintain machine learning models for pathogen classification in fluorescence microscopy data. Collaborate with biologists, engineers, and software teams to integrate models into diagnostic products for infectious disease detection. **Expectations** - Requires collaborative, detail-oriented problem-solving with a focus on reproducibility and robustness. - Comfortable working with unstructured experimental data in a dynamic startup environment. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, train, and evaluate ML models for image segmentation, feature extraction, and pathogen classification. - Preprocess, analyze, and validate microscopy datasets for quality and accuracy. - Build reproducible data pipelines with documentation, version control, and testable components. - Translate experimental insights into product-ready models integrated with software systems. - Generate visualizations, reports, and summaries for technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Stay current with advances in computer vision, image analysis, and diagnostics. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in Python, NumPy, Pandas, and scientific computing libraries. - Experience with OpenCV, scikit-image, or similar image processing tools. - Expertise in deep learning (e.g., CNNs, U-Net) for image analysis using frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow. - Skilled in Git-based version control and collaborative software development. - Strong written and verbal communication for interdisciplinary teamwork. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related field. - PhD preferred but not mandatory. - No specific certifications required; relevant industry/project experience may substitute for formal credentials.
