Job title: Director of Category and Shopper Insights
Role Summary:
Lead the development and execution of category and shopper insight strategies to drive growth, support sales and brand planning, and inform product expansion. Transform multi-source data into actionable narratives, dashboards, and recommendations for internal teams and retail partners. Champion cross‑functional alignment and continuous improvement of analytical tools.
Expectations:
- Own the category narrative, delivering clear, data‑driven insights that influence business planning, assortment, pricing, promotion, and revenue growth initiatives.
- Equip sales and brand teams with concise selling stories and actionable dashboards.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Development, National Accounts, Brand Marketing, Finance, and Revenue Growth Management to align strategy and execution.
- Serve as the internal subject‑matter expert on category dynamics, shopper behavior, and retail market trends.
- Drive the development of reporting frameworks and analytical tools to support national, regional, and channel decision‑making.
- Influence leadership and retail partners through compelling presentations and communication of complex analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate syndicated data, internal sales, shopper panels, and market intelligence into a unified, actionable category view.
- Deliver insight‑led recommendations to inform joint business planning, assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
- Enable sales excellence by providing turnkey narratives and dashboards for rapid customer conversations.
- Support brand strategy by identifying whitespace opportunities and refining positioning.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent execution and strategic alignment.
- Develop and refine analytical tools, templates, and reporting systems.
- Present complex analyses and recommendations clearly to leadership and retail partners.
Required Skills:
- Category management and shopper insight expertise within CPG or beverage sectors.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF, SUMIFS).
- Strong PowerPoint and data storytelling abilities.
- Experience with syndicated data tools (SPINS, IRI/Circana, Numerator, Kroger Stratum/84.51°).
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable, business‑driving insights.
- Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and influence skills without direct authority.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple concurrent projects in fast‑paced environments.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field (MBA preferred).
