Job Description: **Job Title** Backend Developer **Role Summary** Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services for a SaaS fleet management platform. Drive code quality, automate testing, and improve system security and scalability. **Expectations** - Deliver reliable, well‑documented PHP code for API services. - Apply automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and quality metrics. - Continuously optimize database design and application performance. - Ensure secure data handling and keep dependencies up to date. - Work autonomously while actively contributing to architectural decisions and team knowledge sharing. **Key Responsibilities** - Build and maintain RESTful APIs and micro‑services in PHP. - Write clean, testable PHP code with accompanying documentation. - Model and optimize MySQL/MariaDB schemas. - Develop and maintain unit‑, integration‑, and functional‑tests. - Automate deployments and tests using GitLab CI/CD. - Monitor application performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks. - Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting for resilience. - Keep security best practices in code, dependencies, and data exchanges. - Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. - Automate routine tasks with Bash or Python scripts. - Contribute to cross‑functional integration projects. **Required Skills** - 5+ years of backend development experience. - Proficiency in PHP and object‑oriented design. - Strong knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB and relational database optimization. - Experience with REST API design, authentication, and security practices. - Ability to write comprehensive automated tests. - Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines. - Understanding of performance tuning and scalability for SaaS applications. - Version control (Git) proficiency. - Linux (Debian) server administration basics. - Bash or Python scripting for automation (bonus). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). - No mandatory certifications, but knowledge of security or cloud fundamentals is advantageous.
