**Job title**
Data Governance & AI Deployment Lead – Transport Sector (3‑month freelance)
**Role Summary**
Lead a 3‑month strategic engagement to establish enterprise‑wide data governance and make the organization “AI‑ready.” The role requires designing standards, diagnosing current practices across multiple agencies, creating a sustainable data strategy, managing organisational change, and prototyping AI solutions to accelerate commercial cycles.
**Expectations**
• Deliver a harmonised data governance policy, metadata framework, and naming conventions.
• Produce an exhaustive diagnostics report highlighting gaps and blockers.
• Define a long‑term data strategy covering metadata, access rights, and secure sharing.
• Execute a change‑management program: communication, cross‑functional team facilitation, and user training.
• Prototype and integrate AI/ML solutions such as automated document analysis, commercial support generation, internal chatbots, compliance checks, and automated reporting.
• Provide executive‑level visibility and measurable impact on commercial performance.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Define a unified data governance policy, including governance structures, documentation standards, and harmonised naming conventions.
2. Conduct a comprehensive audit of data practices across agencies, identifying discrepancies and impediments.
3. Formalise a sustainable data strategy encompassing metadata management, access control, and secure sharing mechanisms.
4. Design and execute a change‑management plan: strategic communication, team workshops, and end‑user training.
5. Prototype and deploy AI/ML solutions that automate document processing, generate commercial assets, create internal chatbots, verify compliance, and produce analytics reports.
6. Collaborate closely with business, IT, innovation, product, and engineering stakeholders to align solutions with commercial objectives.
7. Maintain regulatory compliance (GDPR, EU AI Act, industry standards).
8. Monitor, evaluate, and report on the program’s impact to senior leadership.
**Required Skills**
- 8–10 years in data governance, enterprise architecture, or digital transformation, preferably within multi‑entity industrial organizations.
- Deep expertise in data governance frameworks (TOGAF, DAMA, ISO 27001/ISO 8000).
- Proven experience deploying AI/ML solutions in an enterprise context.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance (GDPR, EU AI Act, sectoral norms).
- Ability to design and lead organisational change initiatives.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills; experience leading heterogeneous teams.
- Analytical, structured, results‑oriented mindset.
- Autonomous, adaptable, and capable of delivering in complex environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications in TOGAF, DAMA, ISO 27001, or equivalent data‑management/architecture credentials.
- AI/ML practitioner certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate, Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer) is highly valued.
