Job Description
**Job Title** Postdoctoral Researcher – AI Cancer Care **Role Summary** Conduct advanced research and development of a patient‑centered AI Cancer Care Navigation Assistant combining NLP, generative language models, and recommendation systems. Collaborate with clinicians, data scientists, software engineers, and patient partners to design, evaluate, and iterate the system for real‑world deployment. **Expectations** - Deliver timely, high‑quality research outputs, including peer‑reviewed papers, prototype releases, and grant proposals. - Demonstrate strong project management, interdisciplinary communication, and adherence to data governance and ethical standards. - Maintain reproducibility of ML pipelines and contribute to open‑source or internal reproducible frameworks. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead end‑to‑end development of the AI assistant: data preparation, model training, evaluation, and deployment. - Design recommendation and retrieval modules (bi‑encoders, cross‑encoders, RAG) linking patients to supportive resources. - Conduct evaluation studies using automated metrics, clinician reviews, and patient‑partner pilot tests; translate results into system improvements. - Supervise research assistants and trainees in data handling, analysis, and manuscript preparation. - Co‑write and disseminate knowledge‑translation materials (infographics, webinars, social‑media briefs). - Support funding strategies through review of grant applications and preparation of submissions. - Engage in related AI & data science projects within cancer care and mental health, fostering cross‑lab collaboration. **Required Skills** - Advanced knowledge of clinical/biomedical NLP (predictive modeling and foundation‑model generative methods). - Experience building reproducible ML systems: data pipelines, model training, evaluation, and CI/CD. - Proficient in Python and modern deep‑learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow). - Familiarity with MLOps, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and health‑data governance. - Strong communication, teamwork, and stakeholder‑management abilities across technical and clinical domains. **Required Education & Certifications** - PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Medical Informatics, or a related field (completed within the past 5 years). ---
