Job Description
**Job title:** Data Center Engineer **Role Summary:** Provide hands‑on, advanced technical support for multiple data centre sites, ensuring installation, maintenance, and de‑commissioning of high‑performance infrastructure (servers, GPUs, networking, cooling, and storage). Act as the L2 escalation point, execute migrations, and deliver 24/7 incident coverage while collaborating with engineering, operations, and vendors to meet SLAs. **Expectations:** - Deliver timely, expert support and troubleshooting for all data centre components. - Manage full lifecycle tasks: planning, execution, testing, and documentation. - Maintain high uptime, performance, and reliability standards. - Participate in on‑call rotations for critical incidents. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform smart‑hand installation, racking, stacking, and structured cabling. - Execute hardware migrations, upgrades, remediation, and verification for enterprise compute, network, storage, and AI‑hardware (e.g., NVIDIA, Dell XE, Lenovo ThinkSystem, Supermicro, Nokia AirFrame). - Create and maintain detailed documentation: LLDs, runbooks, test plans, rack plans, post‑engagement reports. - Escalate complex cabling, power, environmental, or hardware issues to L2. - Conduct site surveys, assess readiness, contribute to Statements of Work. - Champion safety: lifting practices, ESD control, power safety, risk identification. - Collaborate with consultancy, PM, and customer technical teams on project execution. **Required Skills:** - Experience supporting servers, network hardware, storage in data centre environments. - Advanced troubleshooting of complex hardware/infrastructure problems. - Linux system administration knowledge. - Proficient with TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, and networking topologies. - Understanding of data centre cooling, power distribution, and resiliency best practices. - Familiarity with large‑scale cloud or data centre operations. - Strong communication and cross‑team collaboration abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA/CCNP, CISCO, Red Hat Certified Engineer, or equivalent data centre expertise preferred.
