Job Description
Job Title: Database Analyst Role Summary: Design, implement, and maintain database solutions to support an organization’s IT infrastructure. Drive data quality, security, and accessibility while guiding data administration policies and mentoring a small team. Expectations: - Deliver reliable database architecture aligned with strategic business needs. - Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with internal standards. - Manage a team of 1–2 data administrators, providing leadership and coordination. - Maintain documentation of requirements, designs, and operations for stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: - Gather and analyze data requirements, identify improvement opportunities in IT infrastructure. - Develop and execute a strategic blueprint for database deployment and configuration. - Design, develop, and test database models and management systems. - Implement and enforce data administration policies, standards, and security measures. - Create scripts for stored procedures, triggers, and automated tasks. - Set up IT infrastructure to enable application access to databases. - Monitor and manage backups, recovery procedures, and network access controls. - Document project requirements, reporting needs, queries, logic, results, and recommendations. - Liaise with stakeholders to confirm data availability and quality. - Advise peers on database management tools and best practices. - Lead and coordinate teams in developing and enforcing data policies, standards, and models. Required Skills: - Strong knowledge of relational database design and normalization. - Experience with SQL and scripting (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL) and stored procedures. - Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL). - Ability to develop and enforce data governance policies and security controls. - Analytical and problem‑solving skills to translate business needs into database solutions. - Team leadership and coordination experience (1–2 people). - Excellent written and oral communication; client‑focused interpersonal skills. - Attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to work under pressure. Required Education & Certifications: - College, CEGEP, or equivalent non‑university certificate/diploma program (1–2 years). - 2–3 years related experience; or equivalent professional experience. - No mandatory certifications specified.
