Job Description
**Job Title** Performance Engineer **Role Summary** Design, implement and maintain performance monitoring, profiling and optimization processes across distributed backend services. Identify bottlenecks, lead remediation efforts, and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable system architecture. **Expectations** - Drive measurable improvements in latency, throughput and resource utilization. - Deliver actionable insights and automation that reduce incident response time. - Champion performance best‑practice adoption across the engineering organization. - Maintain and evolve tooling supporting continuous delivery and observability. **Key Responsibilities** - Diagnose and resolve performance issues in distributed systems, APIs, and databases. - Build and maintain internal dashboards, profiling pipelines and alerting frameworks. - Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design efficient, scalable solutions. - Extend CI/CD pipelines and observability stacks for faster, more reliable releases. - Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and long‑term remediation plans. - Advocate performance optimization practices throughout the organization. **Required Skills** - 5+ years in software or platform engineering focused on high‑performance systems. - Proficient in at least one backend language (Ruby, Python, Go). - Deep knowledge of distributed systems, caching, database tuning and architecture. - Hands‑on experience with profiling (e.g., pprof, JProfiler), load testing (e.g., k6, Locust) and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). - Strong command of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). - Excellent analytical, communication and collaboration skills. **Required Education & Certifications** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
