Job Description

**Job Title:** Principal Project Engineer - Land Development **Role Summary** Lead complex land development projects, managing technical teams, client relationships, and regulatory compliance. Requires senior-level expertise in civil engineering design, project management, and leadership. **Expectations** - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) - California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license or eligibility within 6 months of hire - Minimum 8–12 years of relevant industry experience (or 12–15 years of equivalent experience) - 3+ years of supervisory/leadership experience managing technical staff **Key Responsibilities** - Direct project execution for land development, including conceptual design, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure planning. - Supervise design and support staff, ensuring delivery of construction documents, schedules, and budgets. - Liaise with clients, public agencies, and in-house teams to resolve project challenges. - Prepare and manage contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work. - Conduct constructability reviews and regulatory plan preparation (public and private). - Apply technical expertise in site constraints, zoning, and code compliance for CA jurisdictional standards. **Required Skills** - Advanced civil engineering design and project management. - Strong leadership, decision-making, and negotiation abilities. - Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for plan preparation and analysis. - Jurisdictional knowledge of California construction codes, standards, and permitting processes. - Effective written/oral communication for stakeholder coordination and conflict resolution. - Expertise in strategic planning, resource allocation, and time management. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) - California PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months; preferred familiarity with regional regulatory frameworks.
