**Job Title:** Technical Director **Role Summary:** Senior technical leader responsible for overseeing the governance, delivery, and quality of multidisciplinary planning, design and environmental projects across the UK. The role drives technical excellence, ensures compliance with UK planning and environmental legislation, and leads cross‑functional teams to deliver complex developments. **Expectations:** - Deliver technically robust solutions that meet UK planning policy and best practice standards. - Provide strategic technical guidance and act as the primary escalation point for project teams. - Mentor and develop senior and mid‑level staff, fostering a high‑performance culture. - Contribute to business development, bids, fee proposals, and client relationship management. - Support growth of the regional office through strategic planning and leadership. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead technical delivery on multi‑disciplinary, high‑complexity projects. - Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, environmental legislation, and industry best practice. - Serve as the technical authority and escalation point across all project teams. - Mentor, manage, and develop senior and mid‑level professionals. - Support bid development, fee proposals, and client relationship management. - Contribute to business planning and the growth of the regional office. **Required Skills:** - Director‑level experience within a UK consultancy. - Proven track record of delivering technically complex projects through the UK planning system. - Strong leadership and multi‑disciplinary team management skills. - Ability to manage technical risk and maintain high quality standards. - Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder engagement capabilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - RTPI Chartered status. - Relevant UK higher education qualification in planning, design, environmental engineering, or related field. - Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive technical and leadership experience in a UK consultancy setting.
