Job Description: Job Title: ServiceNow Custom Developer Role Summary: Lead developer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining custom applications on the ServiceNow platform. Uses JavaScript, Service Portal, and related APIs to extend platform functionality, manage data, and ensure performance and security. Works cross‑functionally to translate business requirements into technical solutions and to support production migrations and upgrades. Expectations: - 2–3+ years of ServiceNow development experience, 5+ years of JavaScript development. - Secret clearance or higher. - Proficiency in ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) exams. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design ServiceNow solutions. - Lead technical design and create documentation for custom applications. - Develop and enhance features using JavaScript, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Widgets, and Service Portal components. - Manage data imports, scripts for data cleanup, and production data integrity. - Create and maintain custom workflows and automate processes. - Conduct unit testing, defect resolution, and platform upgrade validation. - Perform release management to move changes to production. - Monitor platform performance (slow scripts, transaction logs) and security (Security Center dashboard). - Implement auto‑populate and PDF generation using GlideSysAttachment and PDFGenerationAPI. - Upgrade and clone ServiceNow instances, ensuring custom code compatibility. Required Skills: - Advanced JavaScript, including Record Producers, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, and Widget development. - Service Portal knowledge, REST/XML APIs, Glide APIs. - AngularJS, HTML, CSS for portal/widget customization. - Experience with test suites (ATF or custom scripts). - Ability to analyze, refactor, and streamline legacy code. - Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security awareness. Required Education & Certifications: - Secret clearance or higher. - ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA). - ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD). - Preferred: Security+ CE, CIS-Customer Service Management, Service Portal Micro‑certification, or equivalent API certification.
