Job Title: Financial Controller
Role Summary:
Lead the global financial operations of a manufacturing group, ensuring accurate and timely IFRS compliance, robust internal controls, and effective financial reporting. Manage month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, and statutory filings while driving process improvement and mentoring the finance team.
Expectations:
- Deliver flawless monthly, half‑year, and annual financial close cycles with compliance to IFRS and local statutory requirements.
- Provide insightful analysis to support operational decision‑making and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and governance across multiple entities.
- Ensure accurate cash management, tax filing, and reporting for Canada, the U.S., and Chile.
- Own end‑to‑end ERP processes, leading improvements and automation with Excel, PowerQuery, and Power BI.
- Develop and enforce reporting standards for intercompany and statistical filings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close; prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Oversee complex accounting areas: warranty provisions, inventory reserves, accruals, revenue recognition, cost accounting, and fixed assets.
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting; partner with business units to monitor KPIs and validate business cases.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, working capital, and treasury operations.
- Coordinate corporate tax filings (Canada CRA, U.S. IRS, Chilean SII) and oversee indirect taxes (HST/GST, U.S. sales tax via Avalara).
- Administer U.S. multi‑state nexus and sales‑tax compliance; interface with external compliance vendors.
- Maintain and optimize ERP financial workflows; contribute to ERP implementation or expansion, ideally with Odoo.
- Lead process‑improvement initiatives; develop automated reporting solutions using Excel, PowerQuery, Power BI.
- Fulfill all statutory and statistical filing obligations (Statistics Canada, U.S. economic census).
- Mentor and coach finance team, establish performance metrics, and support professional development.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, sales, supply chain, and engineering.
Required Skills:
- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) certified.
- In‑depth understanding of IFRS, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
- Proven experience with month‑end close, audit coordination, and comprehensive financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including PowerQuery.
- Knowledge of inventory, costing, and manufacturing finance workflows.
- Familiarity with ERP systems; Odoo experience a plus.
- Experience with U.S. sales‑tax administration and multi‑state nexus compliance.
- Ability to manage multi‑entity consolidation and intercompany reporting.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- CPA designation (mandatory).
