Job Description

Job Title: Data Scientist Internship – Operational Performance Role Summary: Assisted in the Airport Nice Côte d’Azur Operations & Development unit, focusing on generating airport operational data products using ML inference and statistics. Supported the Engineering & Operations team in transforming flight scheduling and resource utilisation data into actionable insights via the AWS Lakehouse architecture. Expectations: - Gain hands‑on experience in aviation data science projects guided by a senior Data Scientist. - Acquire knowledge of airport operations, flight scheduling analysis, and resource KPI development. - Develop proficiency in cloud‑based data engineering and BI tooling. Key Responsibilities: - Analyse airline flight programmes: track changes in scheduled and actual programmes, identify seasonal patterns (timing, aircraft types). - Compare programmes across seasons and periods. - Build summary dashboards using BI solution QuickSight. - Compute resource occupation metrics: create historical indicators for gates, apron bays, security doors, aircraft parking, and delivery trolleys from the data lake. - Estimate future KPIs from flight allocation simulations. - Compare projected versus actual resource utilisation and report findings. Required Skills: - Strong statistical analysis and data engineering background (Big Data). - Proficiency in machine‑learning and operational research methodologies. - Programming in R, Python, and SQL. - Experience with cloud solutions (AWS preferred). - Competence in BI dashboard creation (QuickSight or equivalent). - Fluent in English and French. - Self‑starter with initiative, analytical mindset, and excellent communication. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrolment in a Master’s (Bac+5) program in Mathematics with Data Science specialization. - Coursework or practical experience in statistics, data engineering, ML, and operational research.
