Job Description
**Job title** Technical Business Analyst – Infrastructure & OS Uplift **Role Summary** Lead the technical discovery, planning, and execution of infrastructure and operating‑system upgrades as part of a major post‑merger rationalisation program. Act as the bridge between infrastructure operations and business stakeholders, ensuring safe migration, decommissioning, and compliance with ITIL governance. **Expectations** - Deliver end‑to‑end technical assessment of legacy and newly acquired infrastructure. - Create detailed run‑books, rollback plans, and change artefacts for complex OS/DB and network upgrades. - Manage change approvals, risk mitigation, and post‑migration hyper‑care. - Communicate technical findings and business impact to steering committees and non‑technical audiences. **Key Responsibilities** - Conduct comprehensive technical discovery of servers, VMs, OS/DB versions, agents, and network configurations (DNS, firewalls, load balancers). - Coordinate SQL Server and OS version upgrades, including compatibility testing, change windows, and validation. - Produce run‑books with pre‑checks, execution steps, validation criteria, and rollback procedures. - Draft ITIL change artefacts, navigate CAB processes for infrastructure shifts. - Identify and mitigate compatibility, risk, and compliance issues; ensure secure data disposal and retention. - Translate technical risks into clear business cases for steering committees and non‑technical stakeholders. - Oversee hyper‑care periods following decommissioning or upgrade activities. **Required Skills** - 10+ years in infrastructure and IT operations, with prior technical support experience. - Deep knowledge of virtualisation (VMs), platform rationalisation, and application mapping. - Hands‑on experience with MS SQL Server installation, security hardening, and management. - Proven track record of successful enterprise application decommissioning and hyper‑care management. - Strong communication skills for translating technical risks into business‑friendly language. - Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and change management processes. - Ability to produce detailed run‑books, rollback plans, and change artefacts. **Required Education & Certifications** - Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field. - Understanding of ITIL principles (certification preferred). - Valid driver’s licence and willingness to undergo a national police check.
