Job Description
**Job Title:** Junior Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Support NASA human spaceflight programs by developing and integrating software for spacecraft simulations, flight computer data interfaces, human‑computer interfaces, and environment simulations. Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team in a Linux‑based development environment. **Expectations:** - Demonstrate strong interest in software development and hands‑on problem solving. - Communicate effectively in written and verbal form. - Maintain eligibility to work on federal projects (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence). **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and maintain simulation software for Gateway, Orion, and ISS missions. - Implement and integrate flight computer data interfaces and custom tooling. - Contribute to human/computer interface development and environment simulation modules. - Write and debug code in C, C++, and Python on Linux platforms. - Utilize source control, unit testing, issue tracking, and CI/CD pipelines. - Participate in code reviews, documentation, and cross‑team technical discussions. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in C, C++, and Python. - Experience with Linux development, networking, and shell scripting. - Familiarity with source control (e.g., Git), unit testing frameworks, and continuous integration tools. - Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Advanced degree optional but not required. - Legal authorization to work on U.S. federal contracts (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).
