Job Description
Job title: Director of Cloud Operations Role Summary: Lead global cloud operations, driving strategy, governance, reliability, cost‑efficiency, security, vendor relations, and a multi‑region engineering team to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant cloud services. Expactations: 7+ years in cloud or IT operations with 5+ years in leadership of multi‑region teams. Must demonstrate strategic vision, financial acumen, cross‑functional stakeholder management, and ability to operate at senior executive level. Key Responsibilities - Define and execute global cloud strategy, architecture, and process standards. - Build, mentor, and retain a worldwide operations, SRE, and DevOps team; set OKRs and performance metrics. - Ensure 24/7 availability, scalability, and resilience of public, private, and hybrid cloud services across regions. - Partner with finance to monitor, optimize, and forecast cloud spend; implement FinOps practices. - Govern security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, data residency). - Design and run incident, problem, change, and capacity management for production environments. - Negotiate and manage SLAs, contracts, and performance with vendors and service providers. - Drive automation, IaC, CI/CD, observability, and self‑service to improve operational maturity. - Report KPIs (availability, MTTR, cost per unit) to senior leadership. - Maintain global policies, playbooks, and lead cloud‑environment transformations. - Foster a culture of continuous improvement, blameless post‑mortems, and cross‑geography collaboration. Required Skills - Deep technical knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid and edge deployments. - Proven management of large‑scale, 24/7 production cloud environments. - Expertise in FinOps, vendor management, cloud security/compliance, and global governance. - Strong leadership, strategic thinking, business acumen, and stakeholder influence. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation abilities. - Process improvement, automation, DevOps, monitoring/observability, incident/problem management. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred). - Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, ITIL, PMP (preferred).
