Job Description
Job title: Electrical Engineer (Contract) Role Summary: Design, specification, and delivery of electrical services for a broad spectrum of building projects, including commercial, healthcare, retail, and residential developments. Expectations: - Apply degree-level electrical engineering knowledge to design and documentation tasks. - Produce clear, concise reports and specifications for internal and external stakeholders. - Manage assignments independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. - Demonstrate progression toward or attainment of Chartered Engineer status. - Participate in occasional travel and inter-office collaboration. Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop electrical designs using Revit and, where applicable, MagiCAD for procurement and construction drawings. 2. Produce detailed specification documents, drawings, and schedules for electrical services. 3. Coordinate with leading disciplines (mechanical, structural, MEP) to integrate systems and resolve design conflicts. 4. Conduct quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and contributing to project budgeting. 5. Review third‑party electrical schematics and provide technical input and approval. 6. Engage with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives regarding design intent and changes. 7. Perform site visits (as required) to verify design implementation and assist commissioning. 8. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices. Required Skills: - Proficiency in Revit Electrical design, familiarity with MagiCAD. - Strong written and verbal communication, capable of preparing technical documentation and presenting to diverse audiences. - Ability to manage full project lifecycle from concept to handover. - Team player with autonomous work capability. - Interest or progression towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. - Basic people‑management experience preferred. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (degree in progress acceptable). - Recognised qualification in electrical services design (e.g., Diploma in Electrical Engineering Design). - Chartered Engineer status desired or enrolment in a Chartered pathway.
