Job Description
Job Title: Manufacturing and Launch Engineer Role Summary: Lead tooling readiness, process validation, and launch execution for automotive seating components, ensuring repeatable, high‑quality production from SOP onward. Expectations: - Own manufacturing processes during ramp‑up and early production. - Drive continuous improvement, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions. - Deliver robust tooling, fixtures, and EOL testing that meet quality, repeatability, and yield targets. Key Responsibilities: - Define and document fixture requirements, datum strategies, and tolerance stack‑ups for weld, checking, assembly, and EOL fixtures. - Perform DFM/DFA reviews with product engineering to secure manufacturability from design to final assembly. - Validate new fixtures through try‑outs, gauge R&R, tolerance checks, and robustness tests. - Develop, audit, and update manufacturing process flows, PFMEA, and control plans for assembly, welding, plastic molding, foam/trim integration, and EOL testing. - Conduct regular audits of processes, operator procedures, fixture integrity, and testing consistency. - Lead root‑cause investigations for quality defects or process failures; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. - Perform capability studies (Cp, Cpk), monitor yields, first‑pass yield, scrap, throughput, and downtime. - Support new product introductions, production launches, and design or tooling changes through process validation. - Coordinate with product engineering, quality, tooling, trim/foam, plastic teams, and operations across facilities. Required Skills: - Automotive tooling and assembly experience (welding, fixture, and EOL testing). - Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, capability studies, SPC, PFMEA, and control planning. - Strong problem‑solving, audit, and corrective action skills. - Hands‑on shop‑floor orientation and cross‑functional communication. - Familiarity with IATF 16949, PPAP/APQP, and audit practices. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding Engineering or equivalent. - 5–10+ years in automotive manufacturing, preferably in seating, headrest/armrest, plastic molding/assembly, or welding fixture validation. - Valid driving licence.
