Job Description
**Job title:** Cyber Security Intern **Role Summary:** Apply foundational security knowledge and hands‑on skills to protect organization systems, detect and respond to threats, and support compliance efforts. Work under senior staff to monitor SIEM, conduct vulnerability assessments, assist incident response, and contribute to policy, training, and audit activities. **Expectations:** Deliver accurate monitoring logs, vulnerability documentation, and incident reports; complete assigned security projects on time; actively engage in threat‑intel discussions; maintain confidentiality and professional conduct. **Key Responsibilities:** - Monitor SIEM alerts, review logs, identify anomalies, and document incidents. - Conduct vulnerability scans, analyze results, prioritize remediation, and track patch status. - Support incident response drills, forensic documentation, and post‑incident analysis. - Assist in user access reviews, privilege audits, and IAM process documentation. - Participate in security awareness training, policy drafting, audit prep, and technology evaluations. - Research emerging threats, prepare brief reports, and update security documentation. **Required Skills:** - Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and operating systems (Windows/Linux). - Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls). - Basic proficiency with security tools (antivirus, scanners) and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) optional. - Strong analytical, communication, and time‑management skills; trustworthy with sensitive data. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Cyber Security, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field; GPA 3.0+ preferred. - Completion of coursework in networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, or information systems. - Optional: Pursuing or holding entry‑level certifications (Security+, CEH, CISSP).
